Sumitra JanKalyan Seva Sansthan (SJKSS) strongly believes in the fact that education is the most powerful weapon to ensure the change. SJKSS is a non-government organization registered under Societies Registration Act, 21, of 1860, in Bihar. Established in 2007, the organisation gained legal status on 1st December 2008. The registered office of the NGO is situated in the district of Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

Basic objectives of SJKSS include work for the upliftment of deprived people. Within a short span of time, organization’s intervention has positively influenced the growth of rural areas. Most of the development work done by SJKSS are in the fields of community development, health & family welfare, vocational training, social welfare, women empowerment, capacity building, environment awareness program and enlightenment of the deprived communities.

SJKSS has thematic focus to set up its efforts in the overall development of the society so that every person lives with peace in the country. The organization endeavours to bridge the gap that exists amongst people by creating public opinion and demonstrations on various issues affecting the people. Training programs are organized to impart skill and knowledge related to socio economic and cultural system of the area. The main objective of the society is to help people initiate social change through awareness and motivation. People are divided by different forces, resulting in a feeling of exploitation amongst most people in rural locations.

SJKSS believes that only materialistic development cannot erase the problems of the rural areas, and therefore, emphasizes the need to develop an attitude and understanding of cultural and traditional practices. Education has been an instrument of social change to serve the purpose for rural India.
